Misty – “Life is Like a Box of Chocolates”
Life is Like a Box of Chocolates“, reads the title of Misty’s blog, which is underscored with the subheading, “…some days are really good, some are NUTTY, and you never know which kind you’re gonna get!” This is undoubtedly true of type 1 diabetes, the disease that affects Misty’s daughter Allison, who was diagnosed in February of 2009 when she was still in kindergarten. The oldest of Misty’s 3 daughters, Allison faces the daily challenges of working with the school nurse to manage her blood sugars while she is away from her mother. Misty discusses this and other topics in her blog Life is Like a Box of Chocolates. Be sure to watch the video slide-show titled “Why We Do It” at the bottom of her blog, which conveys why she has come online to share Allison’s story. Visit Misty’s Blog: “Life is Like a Box of Chocolates”.

Often our health care team only sees us for about 15 minutes several times a year, and they might not have a sense of what our lives are really like.
